Why Pilates?

As a qualified Physiotherapist, I have come to recognise how much Pilates can benefit everyone.


Pilates has helped me create balance in my life, it joins the mind, body, and soul in a way that eases tension and promotes health. Regular practice improves strength, breathing, increases endurance for other activities, and promotes mindfulness. I want this for all my clients.


Take a break from your day. 

Focus on yourself and find clarity.

What is Pilates? How can it help me?

Joseph Pilates

 Originally from Germany, Joseph Pilates was interned during the first world  war in Lancaster Castle.  While there, he taught and practiced his physical fitness program, which was influenced by sources as varied as yoga, and the movements of animals, particularly cats.  He observed injured and sick prisoners of war becoming deconditioned and so devised a range of pullys and springs to enable the patients to exercise in bed.  Over the years these exercises have evolved so that they can be done on a mat, sometimes using equipment to enhance the exercises.

  • decrease back pain....
  • help to prevent injuries....

My classes have been described as having a "family feel", well removed  from the "sterile leisure centre way" !

 

All classes are built to provide flexibility so that whichever class you come to you are encouraged to work at whatever level suits you!

Zoom Classes

Live and recorded classes available


Zoom classes can only be attended once you have completed at least one block of face to face classes.  This is to ensure you are familiar with the basic exercises and I am satisfied that you are competent to carry out the exercises safely at home.  The zoom links will be sent when you book and pay for the classes.
